Creation:Espa

Espa was born in a kingdom that is advanced in terms of technology. Her feline-like people are skilled and hired to perform covert operations throughout the metaverse. Due to this, they are highly desired to contract due to their ability to stealthily complete missions with no failures to date. Espa was trained in hand to hand combat, educated in use of weapons, and espionage. She was gifted with the power to manifest fire and heat which often creates explosions. She utilizes this in her use of firearms. She is now tasked by her kingdom to discover and gather intel in the metaverse.

Espa was an idea that I had to create a character that was like a secret agent. I wanted her to be charming and cool. Andy did really well on this one. So let’s go through with the process of her creation.

(From left to right) The first design was for an adventurous appearance. The next design was for a merc-like appearance. The last design made her look more like an agent so we selected this one and made some modifications. Next was to choose a colorway…

(From left to right) There were too many different shades of color in this first one. The next one felt too generic with a majority black colored suit. I felt like this color didn’t give her enough character. This last color-way was just right. The different shades of black and gray felt adequate enough to make her feel like a main character.

Next was the finalization:

It turned out just right!

Next we will go over the illustrations.

Each illustration sketch that Andy drew was wonderfully done. (From left to right) The first image had a good concept, but we did not like the pose. We decided on the second pose because it felt like she was proactively using her weapon and the pose felt like she was being more dynamic so we picked this one. The next one was a sweet pose but we wanted her to be actively in combat. The last one was awesome too and showed a more feline like characteristics, but we felt it wasn’t what we wanted in terms of a splash art.

Next was adding the colors, rendering the image and completion!

The illustration turned out great. The background was done really well too. Andy did a wonderful job of showing what she would be like out on the field. Charming, intelligent and so cool. Espa, the Flame Shot Princess, blasting away her enemies.
